Grassroots Referee Course on February 11, 2023

Please email our referee coordinator Tami at ruddtami@gmail.com with any questions regarding refereeing for the Club or for becoming a referee.

There is a USSF Grassroots Referee Course on Saturday, February 11th at Shoreline Middle School at 12pm-3pm in Santa Cruz.

It is $75 to register for the course and to become USSF Certified Grassroots Soccer Referee.

Please pass on this information to all your soccer contacts. Referees are always in huge demand as attrition rates are always at least 40% each year.

Current and past players are always the resource for new referees. Refereeing is an ideal job for college students and high school students alike. Refereeing is a great opportunity for older adults to return to the field and the game. I have worked and assigned several college students/players that can earn good fees working high school and league matches throughout the year when they are not playing. High School students too earn great fees and develop life skills that can assist them in college applications and set them up with instant referee jobs and contacts when they attend college out of the area.

Please help us to advertise this and future courses so we may build a large and robust roster of soccer officials within the Santa Cruz/Monterey counties.

The Saturday portion of the course is an in-person field session. Prior to attending the Field Session the student MUST sign up and register for the course in US Soccer's Learning Center and complete the online learning assignments. The online portion takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete. This may be completed incrementally and over several days.
