Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is comprised of four main parts.

Keep it fun. I try to instill a lifelong love for the game that may one day lead to my players coaching as well. I always strive to create an environment where the players can learn, express themselves, improve as players, develop their leadership and team skills, AND have fun.

Soccer is a thinking sport. So I request that parents on my teams to stick to positive encouragement during the games and stay away from sideline coaching. One of the most beautiful parts about soccer is the players all need to think on their own and make decisions. We need to give them the chance to think on their own, to take what they have learned in practice and apply it in their own ways during the games.

Respect and a Positive Attitude. A soccer team is a second family. We support each other on and off the field. Rain or shine, we are always prepared to play. We come with our shoes tied, shin guards on, water bottle in hand, soccer ball pumped, and a ready-to-play attitude.

Winning isn’t everything. Helping the kids grow as individuals, as players, and as a team is far more important than winning games. In practices we focus on developing individual skills, team skills, and spatial awareness. Winning comes when we grow together and play together as a team.
