Coaching Philosophy
I have enjoyed soccer all my life. Growing up in Davis, CA, I played recreationally and competitively in AYSO, CYSA, and for Davis High School. My early training exposed me developmental philosophies espoused by the UC Davis and UCLA soccer programs. Soccer in Davis was communal, egalitarian, and multinational --- with many styles brought to the pitch. Later in life, I played intramural soccer at UCSC, and competitive men's soccer for the Tiburones FC in La Liga Comunidad Santa Cruz. Here in Santa Cruz, I have coached boys and co-ed U6 and U8 (Santa Cruz City Youth Soccer, Excel Santa Cruz), and U10 (Santa Cruz City Youth Soccer, La Liga Comunidad Santa Cruz). As a defender, my strategy will always strive for a strong defense to minimize the opponent's advantage, but I realize the importance of an offensive strategy that relies on an enabling defense --- opportunistic goals are always welcome. My goal is to teach the utilization of space, connectivity, and team play. I want to enable a love for the game.
Filosofía de Entrenamiento
He disfrutado el fútbol toda mi vida. Mientras crecía en Davis, CA, jugué de forma recreativa y competitiva en AYSO, CYSA y Davis High School. Mi entrenamiento inicial me expuso las filosofías de desarrollo propugnadas por los programas de fútbol UC Davis y UCLA. El fútbol en Davis era comunal, igualitario y multinacional --- con muchos estilos traídos al terreno de juego. Más tarde en la vida, jugué fútbol intramuros en UCSC, y fútbol masculino competitivo para el Tiburones FC en La Liga Comunidad Santa Cruz. Aquí en Santa Cruz he entrenado a chicos y compañeros de U6 y U8 (Fútbol Juvenil de la Ciudad de Santa Cruz, Excel Santa Cruz) y U10 (Fútbol Juvenil de la Ciudad de Santa Cruz, La Liga Comunidad Santa Cruz). Como defensor, mi estrategia siempre buscará una defensa fuerte para minimizar la ventaja del oponente, pero me doy cuenta de la importancia de una estrategia ofensiva que se base en una defensa habilitante --- los golazos oportunistas siempre son bienvenidos. Mi objetivo es enseñar la utilización del espacio, la conectividad y el juego en equipo. Quiero habilitar el amor por el juego.
